About Prayer
The Prayer Ministry was founded in 2014 for the purposes of Praying, Teaching about Prayer, and helping others to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.
“Who, what, where, when, and how” are the five W’s and one H, a technique used to gather information and analyze a situation, and act. The five “W’s” and “H” are:
• Who: Do we pray for?
o Everyone: According to 1 Timothy 2:1, you should pray for all people, including those in authority. God wants everyone to be saved and know him.
o Those in need: You can pray for those who are suffering, facing challenges, or in need.
o Those who persecute you: Matthew 5:44 says to pray for those who persecute you, even though it may be difficult.
o Those who have fallen into sin: 1 John 5:16 says to pray for those who have sinned, but not for those who have sinned to the point of death.
o Those in your circle of influence: You can pray for those in your circle of friends or sphere of influence.
o Your city, nation, and civic leaders: You can pray for your city, nation, and civic leaders.
o Those who are new converts
• What: Do we pray for?
o Gratitude: Thanking God for who he is and what he has done
o Guidance: Asking for help or guidance in life
o Forgiveness: Asking for forgiveness of sins
o Strength: Asking for strength and protection for the day
o Love: Praying to love your neighbors and enemies
o Others: Praying for loved ones, those in need, or those who do not know Jesus
o Wisdom: Asking God to guide your study of the Bible and help you put it into practice
o Connection with God: Asking for your connection with God to grow deeper
o Role as a representative: Praying about your role as a representative for Jesus in the world
o Daily provisions: Asking for daily provisions
Protection from temptation: Asking for protection from temptation
• When: Do we pray
o When you need God’s help: When you’re facing temptation, persecution, or hardship, you can pray immediately.
o When you’re thankful: You can pray to express gratitude.
o When you need to repent: You can pray for forgiveness of your sins.
o When you’re sad: You can pray to lift your heart to God.
o When you’re happy: You can pray to thank God for his blessings.
o When you’re worried: You can pray to cast your burdens on the Lord.
o When you have a big decision to make: You can pray before making a big decision or solving a problem.
o When you’re discouraged: You can pray to turn to God and not quit.
o When you have evil thoughts: You can pray to fill your mind with good thoughts.
o When you wake up: You can pray when you wake up in the morning.
o Before you eat: You can pray before you eat.
o Before you sleep: You can pray before you sleep to reflect on your day.
• Where: Do we pray?
o While there’s no wrong place or time to pray, you might find it easier to focus if you:
o Pray in a peaceful environment
o Pray somewhere private so you won’t be interrupted
o Pray earlier in the evening when you’re not as tired
o Find a distraction-free time and place
o Anywhere
o Privately
o Corporately (Church)
o With someone
• Why: Do we pray?
o Communication with God: Prayer is a way to communicate with God, worship, praise, confess sins, and present requests.
o Developing a relationship: Prayer can help cultivate a relationship with God and better understand one’s desires.
o Spiritual nourishment: Prayer can satisfy spiritual hunger, quench thirst, and refresh the soul.
o Receiving what is needed: Prayer is a way to receive what is needed from God.
o Protecting from the devil: Prayer is a way to protect oneself from the devil, who may want to rob people of the good things God wants to give them.
o Other benefits: Prayer can also increase dopamine levels, boost the immune system, alleviate high blood pressure, depression, ulcers, and migraines
• How: Should we pray?
Address God directly from your heart, expressing your thoughts and feelings honestly, whether it be asking for help, giving thanks, or simply connecting with a higher power; you can pray out loud or silently, and the most important aspect is to believe that you are being heard and that your prayer is meaningful.
Key points to remember when praying:
o Find a quiet place: Seek a space where you can focus without distractions.
o Address God directly: Speak to God as you would to a trusted friend.
o Pray from the heart: Be genuine and express your true feelings.
o Include thanks and praise: Acknowledge the good things in your life.
o Ask for what you need: Share your concerns, requests, and desires.
o Pray with faith: Believe that God hears your prayers and can answer them.
